A wholesome breakfast should always be balanced, and there should be a mix of all your macronutrients (i.e.) protein, fiber, carbohydrates, and fat. This keeps you full and energized up for the day. Poha is a delicious healthy Indian breakfast which is known to help in weightloss. It is packed with these nutrients.
A lot of Indian foods have a common characteristic of being aromatic, flavourful, but oily. Some foods, however, can be tasty as well as low in calories and Poha is a great example. It is, of course, essential to take into account one’s metabolism as it plays an equally important role in weight loss.
Advantages of Poha and How it Assists in Weight Loss?
A Healthy Probiotic
Poha or flattened rice is a healthy probiotic. By parboiling paddy and then drying it in the sunlight, dried rice is made. Later, the dried rice is beaten flat to make Poha or beaten rice. After this, it undergoes the fermentation process through which preserves the microbial flora from the partly absorbed carbohydrates and proteins.
Maintains Blood Sugar Levels
Poha is diabetic friendly. It is loaded with fiber, which helps in a slow and steady release of sugar in our body.
A Good Reservoir of Healthy Carbohydrates
Poha holds 76.9 % of carbohydrates, which makes it a healthy, fulfilling breakfast.
An Easily Digestible Food
Poha gets digested easily. Thus it is ideal for breakfast or an evening snack.
Loaded with Iron
Poha is a good source of iron. Squeezing some fresh lemon juice to Poha can assist our body in absorbing the iron better.
A Low-calorie Food
Poha is low in calories. Foods with low calories help our metabolism rate to boost up.
