Former women’s world no1 player, Sanchez has been named the ambassador for the World TCS 10k, to be held in Bengaluru.

Arantxa Sanchez Vicario accumulated 14 grand slam titles during her career and now she will be there to encourage 25,000 runners of the 10k run. Her story reflects her grit, determination and never-say-die attitude and this is exactly what the runners need to conquer their marathon course. After retiring from competitive tennis she has been involved in multiple causes and she is very excited about coming out to India to promote the marathon.

“Running has played an important part in my career and I think it is the easiest way to keep your mind and body sound. Sport has the ability to connect communities beyond the competitive spirit, and instill a sense of pride amongst all and celebrate accomplishments. Running has managed to do just that. It is exciting that my association with India begins with the TCS World 10K in Bengaluru. I am glad to be there on the start line with all the runners and enjoy the infectious energy on race day,” said the former world no 1.

In the quest to keep raising the profile of the event, Procam International, promoters of the IAAF Gold Label Tata Consultancy Services World 10K Bengaluru, the world’s premier 10K run, today announced former women’s World No. 1 tennis player Arantxa Sanchez Vicario as the International Event Ambassador.
