Mothibi and Steyn crossed the finished line ahead of others at the 94th Comrades Marathon at Durban.

South African runner Edward Mothibi beat returning champion Mthembu to take home the title for the Comrades Marathon held in Durban this year. Mthembu placed second. Mothibi had finished in fourth place in the 2018 edition. The Comrades Marathon is an ultramarathon that spans 89kms from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. Mothibi was excited about the win and thanked his supporters.

Gerda Steyn was the first woman to cross over the finish line this year. Steyn finished with a timing of  5:58:53. Earlier this year Steyn missed setting a record at the Two Oceans ultra marathon and was thrilled to have completed this one first.
