In honour of the birth centenary of Maharani Gayatri Devi, the first Jaipur Slam has been rechristened as ‘Maharani Gayatri Devi Jaipur Slam’ or MGD Jaipur Slam.

In the birth centenary year of Rajmata Gayatri Devi, many activities are being planned by her grandson, Maharaj Devraj Singh and granddaughter, Princess Lalitya Kumari and Maharani Gayatri Devi Charitable Trust. In this regard, the four major annual running events of Jaipur being organized by the Jaipur Runners are being dedicated to her memory. The first Jaipur Slam event will now be called ‘Maharani Gayatri Devi Jaipur Slam’ (MGD Jaipur Slam). It is well known that the late queen was very fond of sports and motivated everyone to stay fit and healthy. She had a deep commitment, affection and love towards the inhabitants of Jaipur and she had dedicated her life towards making Jaipur a prosperous city.

MGD Jaipur Slam is one of a kind running program where exceptional amateur marathoners get recognized and rewarded for their dedication and hard work displayed in all major Jaipur Runners events. The MGD Jaipur Slam itinerary consists of ‘THOR – The Hero of Running’ in June, the ‘Jaipur Glow Run’ in September, ‘Jaipur Pink Run’ in Nov/Dec and the ‘Jaipur Marathon’ in February (the first Sunday).

The first ‘MGD Jaipur Slam’ running event ‘THOR -The Hero of Running’ is scheduled on June 2, 2019 with race categories of 21 KM, 10 KM and 4 KM and it also has an option of a virtual run in which participants can run anywhere in the country as City Ambassadors.
