The new Protean sunglasses models are defined by its fine balance between timeless design and technology, discovers Deepthi Velkur.
As all cycling enthusiasts do, when we look for cycling and running glasses we want something light, comfortable and with ample clearance over the eyes. We also need to look for something strong enough to be almost invulnerable, because we have a tendency to drop them, step over them, etc. None of us want to spend a ton of money on some delicate glasses that would break in a few days or weeks.
Enter the new Adidas Protean sunglasses that are designed to be minimalist and fashionable but still highly functional. Adidas has an extensive sports sunglasses selection with the technical models worn by pro cyclists and runners but if you are looking for something with a more relaxed look then the Protean models are a good option.
These are designed to be ultra-lightweight with shatterproof frames, adapt to the contours of your head, have long temple grippers and adjustable nose pads for a secure fit. The Protean sports an angular and modern look that offer good peripheral protection and most likely will not impede your sideways vision.

Cutting to the chase, how do these cycling glasses perform? Simply said; awesome!
They offer fantastic vision and makes you feel a lot safer when riding your cycle even in the rain. Of course, there is the usual problem of fitting the ear pieces under your helmet. This varies depending on the helmet you use. In general, though, it works well, and certainly not uncomfortable or painful. A word of advice, is to take your helmet along when you try on the glasses, just to be sure they work for you.
These glasses come in a range of nine frame colour and lens options with prices ranging between INR 7,500 – INR 10,500 and are available at www.bikeinn.com.
They are quite expensive cycling and running glasses but the quality is unbeatable – if you are willing to spend a few thousand rupees, and you bike a lot they are worth the cost. They are great for protection against the sun and are also incredibly long-lasting.
