Smartwatch Fitbit Versa 3 Review

Simply put, the Fitbit Versa 3 is an excellent wearable. With a great battery life, a whole range of fitness statistics and a fabulous display, Fitbit Versa 3 is one of the best fitness trackers available in the market today. The fact that it is affordable earns the latest Fitbit variant truckloads of brownie points.

Here’s our detailed review:

Design

Fitbit Versa 3 Smartwatch The Versa 3 has an indent on the side, which helps give the watch a sleek look. Unfortunately, it takes a while to find the exact spot that needs to be pressed in order to start the watch. Other than this slight flaw, the Fitbit Versa 3 is a beautiful watch that comes with an extra interchangeable silicone strap. The strap can be changed easily through a clasp.

The display is a 40mm AMOLED panel that comes with a resolution of 336 x 336 pixels. The display is bright, clear and crisp.

On the right side is a tiny mic and speaker that help you take calls. The quality of the sound is pretty clear. It is water resistant, which means you can wear it for a swim, or even in the sea.

Battery

The Fitbit Versa 3 has excellent battery life that lasts around 7 days – we’ve been using it for 3 weeks and have had to charge it only twice. The Versa 3 also charges faster than the Versa 2 – it takes 30 minutes to charge the tracker up to 100%. The charger is a magnetic one that needs to be positioned at just the right angle in order to charge, and finding out this position might take some getting used to.

Fitness Monitoring

The Versa 3 comes with integrated GPS tracking that helps you track the pace and distance of your runs, walks, bike rides etc. if you choose to leave your phone behind.

Your daily activities are broken down into steps, calories burned and zone minutes. If you want more statistics on your heart rate, oxygen saturation and breathing rate during movement, you will have to purchase Fitbit Premium. You can choose a workout program if you wish to monitor a particular session; from circuit training to swimming, it covers almost everything when it comes to workouts.

The app also has guided breathing exercises if you wish to track your mindfulness.

The Versa 3 also monitors your oxygen level while you sleep, which is helpful in understanding recovery, and sleeping disorders. You get sleep breakdown and sleep scores that help you analyse your sleep cycle.

Instead of using steps taken as the only measure of success, the Versa 3 has Active Zone Minutes which uses heart rate data to determine how long you’ve engaged in some sort of physical activity, even the ones that don’t require walking around. So rather than aiming for 10,000 steps, you can aim for something like 20 or more Active Zone Minutes, depending on your goals. According to Fitbit, Active Zone Minutes are a more accurate representation of your fitness level than steps alone.

Apps

The Fitbit Versa 3 is more of a fitness tracker than an app, which means that there are not too many productivity apps that will help you here. If you set up the Alexa app on your phone and sync your Amazon account, you can do a lot more with this watch: like set reminders and control smart home devices. Google Assistant Support is expected to roll out in the near future.

You get notifications on your wrist, and you can choose which apps you want to see the notifications from. It supports WhatsApp and Slack, along with calls, emails as well as Uber.
